Pretty Flowers Pretty Flowers in her hair; dancing round without a care People dancing in the streets; grooving to the band with the swingin beat Everybody’s having fun, but me, I’m stuck here with a gun you see Oh I hope you see I don’t know what I’m here for. I didn’t start this crazy war I got a letter from my Uncle Sam, with a one way ticket to Viet Nam Everybody’s having fun, but me, I’m stuck here with a gun you see Oh I hope you see They don’t care if I come back (Already) They got my house all painted black They got me stuck way up here in a tree. Supposed to shoot the first human being I see Everybody’s having fun, but me, I’m stuck here with a gun you see Oh I hope you see How I wish that I was there, with pretty flowers in my hair I’d be there dancing in the street, just grooving to the band with the swinging beat Everybody’s having fun, but me, I’m stuck here with a gun you see Oh I hope you see Pretty Flowers in her hair; dancing round without a care People dancing in the streets; grooving to the band with the swingin beat Everybody’s having fun, but me, I’m stuck here with a gun you see Oh I hope you see Oh I hope you see

The Other Side of My Mind There’s a place on the other side of my mind Where I go to spend most of my time And if you want to know where I’m going to today Just follow me, it’s not far out of your way I don’t like to see other people, no Cause they always seem to make all my troubles grow So I take all my troubles to the other side of my mind And there they all seem to disappear along with the time There’s a place on the other side of my mind Where I go to spend most of my time And if you want to know where I’m going to today Just follow me, it’s not far out of your way

Baby Why Can’t You See When I wake up and find that you’re not there; all my troubles seem so hard to bear I know I’ll never find the dreams that we once shared. Baby why can’t you see We were so happy; carefree as could be. I pledged my heart to you and you pledged yours to me We shared the kind of love to last eternally. Baby why can’t you see And then one day you said you had to go. To chase a dream that only you could know And though I cried, you said you must be free. Now deep inside this is really killing me. ………………….Baby why can’t you see And then one day you said you had to go. To chase a dream that only you could know And though I cried, you said you must be free. Now deep inside this is really killing me. When I wake up and find that you’re not there; all my troubles seem so hard to bear I know I’ll never find the dreams that we once shared. Baby why can’t you see Baby why can’t you see? Baby why can’t you see?

The Time for Crying The sun shining through my window softly tells me the night has passed away And the blue skies over my head softly tells me it’s a new day And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done The blue birds flying in the sky happily sing a new song And the people gaily passing by all remind me – yesterday is gone And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done The sun shining through my window softly tells me the night has passed away And the blue skies over my head softly tells me it’s a new day And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done

about

The songs on this EP were written between 1967 and 1968 when I was 14-15 years old. I performed them with my band, Shady Day, whenever we would play. They are definitely a reflection of the times we lived in and the musical influences around me. I am still playing these songs for audiences, and they are well received; leading me to believe that they have withstood the test of time. I have re-corded my "writer's take" in my home studio and for your approval.
