The Time for Crying

from My Shady Days by Chad Shue

/

about

Written in 1968 when I was 15 years old, "The Time for Crying" was inspired by one of the drummers in my band who had grown tired of performing "Baby Why Can't You See" so many times each night and hear me tell the story of my "failed romance." One night, at the conclusion of the sad ballad, he yelled out, "Enough already! The time for crying's over!"

lyrics

The Time for Crying

The sun shining through my window softly tells me the night has passed away
And the blue skies over my head softly tells me it’s a new day
And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done

The blue birds flying in the sky happily sing a new song
And the people gaily passing by all remind me – yesterday is gone
And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done

And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done

The sun shining through my window softly tells me the night has passed away
And the blue skies over my head softly tells me it’s a new day
And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done

And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done
And the time for crying’s over and the time for crying is done
